"Kits are a precious gift, Spiderleg, You should take every chance you can to be a good father. It's even better than being a mentor."

Leafpool is a pale[1] brown tabby she-cat[2] with amber eyes,[3] and a white chest and paws.[4]

Leafkit was born in ThunderClan to Sandstorm and Firestar alongside her sister, Squirrelkit. She is technically first seen in The Heart of a Warrior, with Ravenpaw commenting Sandstorm had her paws full with the two she-kits. Leafkit shares a strong spiritual connection with her sister, allowing the two to feel what the other feels; somewhat akin to the connection twins share.

Leafpaw became a medicine cat apprentice and trained with Cinderpelt as her mentor. When the four Clans moved to the lake she discovered the Moonpool where the cats could share tounges with StarClan. Because of her discovery, Leafpaw earned the name of Leafpool, and the first medicine cat to get their full name at the Moonpool.

Medicine Cat

After her training, she became a full medicine cat alongside Cinderpelt. She became mates with Crowfeather, a WindClan warrior. It is against the medicine cat code to have kits and against the Warrior Code to have a mate in another Clan. After Leafpool gave birth to Hollykit, Jaykit and Lionkit, Leafpool gave them to Squirrelflight, so no one would know that they were hers. While mentoring Jaypaw, Cinderpaw had fallen out of a tree. Knowing her past, Leafpool worked very hard to heal her leg.

Later, Leafpool's kits Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather discovered that they were Leafpool's kits. Leafpool admitted it to them that she was, angering them, especially Hollyleaf. During a Gathering one night, Hollyleaf told all the Clans that Leafpool and Crowfeather were her parents. Leafpool was punished by StarClan and was stripped of her position as a medicine cat, leaving her to become a warrior. After this, Hollyleaf ran away and disappeared into the tunnels. The entrance collapsed after her, she thought to be dead as Jayfeather and Lionblaze witnessed the event.

Leafpool had been forced to abandon her position as medicine cat and become a warrior after their secret was set loose.  She wasn't a very good fighter, or hunter, most likely due to the majority of her life up until that point she had been conditioned to carry out the duties of a medicine cat- therefore she didn't acquire the fundamental skills required to be a good warrior. Many times, she tried to talk to Jayfeather and Lionblaze, who refused to listen. Her daughter, Hollyleaf, returned to ThunderClan during The Forgotten Warrior. Leafpool was overjoyed at her daughter's return, though Hollyleaf was taken aback by Leafpool's show of affection, and didn't know how to respond.

During The Final Battle, Hollyleaf died and forgave Leafpool with her dying breath. Leafpool was later seen helping Jayfeather tending the wounded and gathering herbs.

In Dovewing's Silence, Bramblestar is kind enough to give Leafpool her position of medicine cat back to help Jayfeather treat the injuries after the final battle. She continued as medicine cat, recently confirmed by Erin Hunter, and she is a medicine cat in the allegiances of Bramblestar's Storm and forwards.
